Recycling Schedule & Program at the Park

You may have noticed the recycling bins in the park.  As part of our "Going Green" program, we have started a new volunteer and park run recycling program here at our beautiful park and are in need a few more volunteers to help collect and sort the recyclables.  We currently have a number of active members involved, but we could use a few more to ensure that each person only has to do one collection/sorting per month.  It takes about 2 hours or so to do a collection and sorting.

Already, this program (underway for over a year now) has helped us divert several tons of recyclable materials from going into the landfill and has saved the park many dollars related to waste hauling expenses.  Friends and the park have partnered with "A n J Recycling Service" in support of this very worthwhile effort.

1st Sunday/Monday of each month:  Joe and Linda Devlin

2nd Sunday/Monday  of each month:  Debbie Green / Randy Wheeler

3rd Sunday/Monday  of each month:  Jim and Linda Craig / Shelly Stover

4th Sunday/Monday  of each month:  Doug Imshaug and Liane Stark

Any month with 5 weekends:  Volunteers will be requested via email

DID YOU KNOW? 

1)  Anastasia State Park offers programs to school groups FREE OF CHARGE!  Please contact Park Services Specialist Shelly Young on (904) 461-2035 or at email address - shelly.young@dep.state.fl.us - for more information.

2)  The Friends of Anastasia logo is a representation of the Anastasia Island Beach Mouse which is an endangered species.

3)  Friends meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (@ 7:00 PM) at the State Park office (near the Amphitheater), unless otherwise noted.  All Friends members are welcome & encouraged to attend.

4)  Who are the Friends of Anastasia?  We are a non-profit Citizens Support Organization (CSO) for Anastasia State Park who support the park by providing programs & services that will enhance the experience of all who visit this special place.  See the "Facts about Friends" post in the Items of Interest section of this website for additional information about Friends.
