- Discussion and / or approval of 1/15/13 minutes. Motion made, seconded and voted yes to approve
- Meeting Agenda:
5.1 Election of Officers
A. Officers stay the same with the exception of opening for Secretary as Shelley steps down
B. Sharon Burbelo volunteered for secretary position, was nominated and elected by board members
C. Board member list distributed with the understanding that personal info is to be kept confidential
D. 1 Director position remains open on Board
5.2 Anastasia State Park: Report from Christy Leonard
A. The friends of A1A Scenic Byway and Highway is asking us to sign a letter of support template for a grant that is designed for marketing, tourism and up grades for Villano area (nothing else is required of us)
B. Field trip postponed so group can go to luncheon for volunteer appreciation at Washington Oaks State Park on March 16th from 10am to 2pm. We will use the van to carpool. More info to follow. Invitations will be sent to all volunteers
C. Roadside cleanup moved to March 9, starting at 7:30am
D. St. Augustine Triathalon cancelled. We are not involved with this
5.3 Financial Report (Doug)
A. January report was sent to members
B. Change in budget: Special park request was $2000 but is now $3000 (money not spent last year carried over)
C. Motion made to approve budget as presented, motion was seconded and voted to approve.
D. Recycling credit this month was $48
5.4 Membership Report (Dennis/Diane)
A. 143 members…4 new joined and 1 dropped this month…7 have been processed since 1/15..purging at end of month…
B. 134 original family, 6 gifts, 7 lifetime and 2 corporate
C. Farah and Farah Corporate Sponsor to be dropped (non-renewal) and removed from the Friends website Main page - long over due
D Memberships are revolving, not based on calendar year
E 2 memberships were with Pay Pal sign up
F Board member list to be redone and sent out PDF (website contains names only)
5.5 Committee Chair Reports
5.5.1 Fundraising (Shelley)
A. Yard Sale Saturday…arrive by 6:30am
B. Parking for Yard Sale will be at Elks and posted
C. Shed to be cleaned out Friday at noon
D. Some stuff from shed will be given to Boy Scouts
E. Am Vets coming Monday to take what doesn’t go at yard sale
F. In the past, some of our sponsors didn’t get T Shirts so they should get them now.(some board members agreed to see to this)
H. Beach Fitness Classes: Begin in April. Will be 6 weekends in a row with 60-90 minute class for $30 to $40. Refinery plans to give some “free stuff”
I. Discussion followed regarding music for classes and board members are considering purchasing a docking station
5.5.2 .Endless Summer Run: (Shelley)
A. Will be meeting with Jim Monday for new registration forms. Sponsor forms have been sent out
B. Info being sent out about playground looking for the $10,000 range vs the $35,000
C. At next meeting a date will be given for ESR committee
D. Shelley let Dennis know when Pay Pal is to be opened up
E. Playground (Christy)
From the Park perspective: we have an opportunity to put in for funding to upgrade all 3 playgrounds…we have requested $30,000..that would be used for the playground equipment but we would have to pay for the installation. Pictures of the current playgrounds will be sent in with request under our justification
5.5.3 Roadside Cleanup (Rita)
A. Date changed to 3/9/13 at 7:30am
B. Meet at SR 312 and Santander
C. Email to be sent out
D. Verbal OK to use past photo for advertising
5.5.4 Recycling/Go Green (Greg)
A. Currently $68 goes to Advanced Disposal
B. Will now cost $34 for dumpster for single strain recycling. No longer need to sort.
C. Aluminum cans will go into trailer and cont to be sold and trailer must be hooked up to park truck to be hauled
D. Adam has been sent Email that bins are full
E. Greg will follow up about dumpster choice
5.5.5 Web Site (Dennis/Norm)
A. Effort is that all State Park Web Sites will look the same and a Template is currently being developed
B. Domain is through GODADDY at $49 year
C. The site we use currently free to us (generously supplied to us by Leo Seaman (former board member of Friends)
D. Sun Biz Report due…Christy aware and we don’t pay sales tax but $$ value is involved
E. Discussion about buying (never opened) Laptop (Dell) from Mitch Clark (Assistant Manager of ASP) with Windows 8. Decision was made to purchase for $210 and check was given to Mitch. Laptop value much higher than we paid.
Christy will donate Microsoft Office

2) The Friends of Anastasia logo is a representation of the Anastasia Island Beach Mouse which is an endangered species.
3) Friends meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (@ 7:00 PM) at the State Park office (near the Amphitheater), unless otherwise noted. All Friends members are welcome & encouraged to attend.
4) Who are the Friends of Anastasia? We are a non-profit Citizens Support Organization (CSO) for Anastasia State Park who support the park by providing programs & services that will enhance the experience of all who visit this special place.
