July 24th Roadside Cleanup - Thanks For The Help!

Thanks to all who came out to help with our July 24th Roadside Cleanup.  We certainly did a great job cleaning up.  We had a small but very dedicated and efficient group of volunteers.  Volunteers that helped were Friends President - Adam Morley, Friends members - Stacy Boehm, Debby Green and Doug Stark, yours truly - Dennis Salvati and Park Ranger -Paul Conlin.  Friends member - Liane Stark came out as well, just to hand out bottles of drinking water.  Boy, did that taste great.  Thanks Liane!!!!!!  Our adopted road looks great again.  THANKS!  Our work really made a huge difference in the road's appearance.  We also would like to express our thanks to Joe and Linda Devlin of Island Joe's for their hospitality at the park that morning at breakfast - Thanks again Joe and Linda.  Park Ranger - Paul Conlin was a big help providing the tools, trash bags, safety equipment and support necessary for us to do this cleanup safely and efficiently.  Paul even pitched in with the rest of us picking up all sorts of interesting and not so interesting refuse.  It was very humid and warm that morning, but the early start we got (7:45 AM) really helped us beat the heat of the day.  By 9:15 AM, we were done and headed for breakfast at the park.
 
Our cleanups will be scheduled approximately every 3 months.  The next roadside cleanup will be scheduled sometime in October when it certainly will be cooler.  Looking forward to your help in the future. Stay tuned for additional information.  Thanks again Friends for all of your support and assistance.  Your help does indeed make a world of difference.

Help us in the future with our roadside cleanup (peformed every 2 to 3 months) on our adopted road from Santander Road down towards Pope Road, along SR 312 (our Friends of Anastasia State Park Adopted Road).  We are always in great need of volunteers to help out in this effort.  The Park always provides us with cleaning tools and bags, but we must bring a bottle of water to drink (recommended), sunscreen and gloves, if you have them.  Further information on the dates and times of this event will be published on this website in the "Items of Interest" section on our main page and on our "Calendar" page.  Stay tuned and thanks......

3)  Friends meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (@ 5:30 PM) at the State Park office (near the Amphitheater), unless otherwise noted.  All Friends members are welcome & encouraged to attend.
