Annual Meeting of the Membership
Jan. 22nd, 2012 - 11:30 AM @ the The Groove Café

 

Roll Call: Board Members: Rita Roberts, Dennis Salvati, Linda Devlin, Janine LeBlanc -  not present: Shelly Stover. Also attending: Shelly Young (ASP), Diane Glass, Norm Wyner, Greg Adams, Kathy Salvati, Joe Devlin, Joan Selph, Doug Imshaug, Liane Stark, David/Cindy Farah, Norm/Frieda Wyner, Stacey Boehm, Joe/Gail Hein, Arliss Ryan, Peter Spoehr, Matt Gamble

Meeting Agenda: V.P. Rita Roberts opened the meeting & began to go through the agenda.

 

a. Financial Report:

 

 1. Total Cash- $7,455.07

 2. CD- $2,128.94.

 3. Reserved for Playground Fund- $4,342.59.

 4. PayPal- $969.07

*The total cash does not reflect monies earned from the Beach Blast Parking event in the amount of $380.00 or the $300 seed money used for the event (to deposited back to our Friends account).

b. Membership Report:

1. Total Memberships 148.

2. Membership Breakdown: 141 Individual/Family(including 4 gift memberships)

 6 Lifetime

 1 Corporate (Farah & Farah)

 

c. Thank outgoing Board Members 

· Shelly Young thanked all the outgoing board members: Adam Morely, Debbie & Morgan Green and Paula Rives and highlighted each one’s accomplishments and successes.

 

1. Adam Morely: President of the Friend group, he also started the successful recycling program within the park, helped and chaired some events; he also helped and supported the farmers market booth.

 

2. Debbie Green: Chaired the farmer’s market booth, she also made it what it is today: an informative and interactive display which entices the visitor to learn more about Anastasia State Park and becoming a Friends member. Debbie also helped with the recycling program, worked all events and raised monies for the group.

 

3. Paula Rives: chaired and manned the Go-Green project, she researched, found and instilled cost effective replacements for many areas in the park. Paula also helped with the recycling program and helped with events.

 

4. Morgan Green: Has supported the Friends with his all around help. Morgan chaired the Friends of Anastasias first Bluzfest, he has help with the recycling program and built much needed items to make the program better for all, he also helped and supported the farmer’s market booth.

 

· The staff of Anastasia State Park hopes that each one will stay active with the Friends of Anastasia as each one played an important part in the success of the group and the park.

 

d. Introduce and present 4 Nominees to fill the 2012 open Board positions:

     
  • Linda Devlin read a short bio on each Nominee:
  •   
    1. Diane Glass, Joanie Selph, Greg Adams and Doug Imshag
      •  
      • Each bio read was quite impressive
        

e. Membership Vote:

  
  • V.P. Rita Roberts asked for a motion for a vote of the membership to accept the presented nominees. The vote was unanimous and the new board for 2012 was presented.

f. Open discussion:

       
    1. Linda discussed the playground project and it’s needs
  • Help with fund raisers, meeting with playground rep., have any ideas
    1. Friends want a banner for events advertising who the friends are.
    2.  
    3. Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon will be held at Wekiva State Park in Apopka, Florida February 18, 2012 from 10-2. Please R.S.V.P to Shelly Young at: shelly.young@dep.state.fl.us if you plan on attending.
    4.  
    5. The Friends of Anastasia State Park Conservation Team has been nominated for Florida State Parks Team of the Year Award.
    6.  
          • The Friends of Anastasia believe in ensuring the existence of the Real Florida for future generations, and have sought to embrace this belief through conservation of the land, wildlife and natural resources of Anastasia State Park. Through their desire to become better stewards of the environment, this energetic group devised a three part project to move towards this goal. The “Go Green!” project included the establishment of a  recycling, sustainability and litter reduction program.
          • The Friends of Anastasia Team members for these projects consisted of: Adam Morely, Linda Devlin, Joe Devlin, Janine LeBlanc, Dennis Salvati, Paula Rives, Joan Self, Debbie Green, Morgan Green, Joe Devlin, Leanne Stark, Doug Imshang, David Farah, Cindy Farah, Norm Wyner, Frieda Wyner, Cheryl Donahue and Diane Glass.

       

      * The staff of Anastasia State Park would like to congratulate this great team

   5. Shelly will review and update the Friends Brochure to include info on where the

 new member heard of us either by adding back a line for it or adding a origin code.

 

g. Announcements & Adjournment:

 

§ Next meeting is February 21st, 2012 (7 PM) at the park administration office

 

      We will be doing another roadside cleanup on Saturday morning, February 4th, 2012 beginning at 8:30 AM.  Cleanup will be performed from Santander Road down towards Pope Road, along SR 312 (our Friends of Anastasia State Park Adopted Road).

   Adjourn: V.P. Roberts asked for a motion, which was made, seconded and voted yes.

3)  Friends meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (@ 7:00 PM) at the State Park office (near the Amphitheater), unless otherwise noted.  All Friends members are welcome & encouraged to attend.

4)  Who are the Friends of Anastasia?  We are a non-profit Citizens Support Organization (CSO) for Anastasia State Park who support the park by providing programs & services that will enhance the experience of all who visit this special place.  See the "Facts about Friends" post in the Items of Interest section of this website for additional information about Friends.
